Report ② on 3rd day of G7 Education Ministers’ Meeting in Toyama and Kanazawa. Visit to 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art and National Crafts Museum, and dinner in Kanazawa Castle Park
On May 14, the third day of the G7 Education Ministers’ Meeting, a press conference was held after the adoption of the “Toyama-Kanazawa Declaration.”
At the joint press conference, the Head of Delegations(HODs) from all the countries and organizations made comments expressing their warm gratitude to the host country and pledging to continue their cooperation.
HODs expressed positive and warm sentiments, thanking the host country Japan and expressing their intention to overcome together the common issues they are grappling with in education after the COVID pandemic.
Visits to 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art and National Crafts Museum in Kanazawa
At the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, the museum director guided the delegates around the museum, introducing the delegates to contemporary art exhibited there in English.
At the entrance to the National Crafts Museum, the delegates were presented with Pikachu Plush Toys commemorating the holding of the “Pokemon x Kogei — Playful Encounters of Pokemon and Japanese Craft” exhibition.
The delegates from the G7 members and international organizations enjoyed the numerous handicrafts with their long history.
Dinner in Gojukken Nagaya in Kanazawa Castle Park
As the bus carrying the delegates arrived, firefighters performed the Kaga Tobi ladder acrobatics to greet them.
Following a musical performance by geisha, Minister Nagaoka made opening remarks. After some words of welcome from Ishikawa Prefecture Governor Hase Hiroshi, the dinner started with a Kagami Biraki sake barrel opening.
Then Minister Nagaoka and the G7 Ministers enjoyed a dinner of Japanese cuisine in the Gojukken Nagaya room in Kanazawa Castle Park.
